Pysanky Eggs

Last Thursday evening, Mom and I went to the library to take a class on how to make Pysanky eggs.  We had a great time!

The the egg above is mine and the red egg below is Mom's.

How Congress Violates the Constitution

Congress voted on the health care bill yesterday and it passed by 7 votes.  One of the things that the bill states is that health care insurance must be purchased.  But in the Constitution under Article 1 Section 8 (which outlines the powers of Congress), Congress is not granted the power to mandate health insurance.

Congress refused to call a convention even when over 500 state requests were made asking for a convention to make proposals for the amendments.  In the Constitution under Article 5, it says that if we want to propose amendments, the states must ask Congress to do so, but Congress ignores the states' requests.

Amy's Doggy "Acquaintance" (not friend)

 

On Monday Mammaw came over with Lexi (whom Mammaw is "dog-sitting") to drop off something, so I seized the opportunity to get Amy to at least stand next to a dog without having a heart attack.  I got to take them on a walk while holding both of their leashes in one hand, and we only got tangled up once!  This picture was taken after the walk when Amy came to the conclusion that Lexi wasn't going to eat her.

Snowflake Craft

You will need 6-8 sheets of paper, scissors, tape, and a stapler.

1. Take a corner of the paper and fold it over to make a triangle.

2. Cut off the extra paper.

3. Fold the triangle in half to form a smaller triangle.

4. Hold the triangle at an angle, folded edge down, and cut 3 lines up to the top but DO NOT reach the edge with your cut; leave a small margin between the edge and the end of your cut. (Click on the picture for a close-up view, and use the triangle at the left as an example for what it should end up looking like.)

5. Unfold the paper and it should look like this: (If it doesn't, you probably messed up in example 4).

6. Take the 2 middle strips of paper and tape them together.

7. Flip over the paper and take the next 2 strips and tape them together. Repeat taping and flipping for the rest of the strips.

8. After you are done with step 7 you should get 1 of these shown below. Repeat steps 1-7 until you get about 6-8 of these. (I usually use 8).

9. Take 3 or 4 of the pieces and staple them together at the ends. Take another group of 3 or 4 and repeat. After that, take the 2 groups and staple them together at the ends to form a snowflake.

10. Staple the sides of the pieces together to prevent them from sliding around.

The Mistmantle Chronicles
